My Fav. Hikes #2

Abalone Cove/Sacred Cove/Smugglers Cove
Highlights: Bluffside Views, Sea Caves, Tide Pools
Scenery: Ocean View
Hike Time: Varies, several different paths are available
Difficulty: Moderate
Rating: 5 Stars
________________________________________
Summary: This is definitely one of my favorite hikes in LA. The views are gorgeous and you’re constantly wondering what is around the next bend. The hike is filled with breathtaking views, sea caves, tide pools and sometimes even seals (one was sun bathing on the beach). The hike is a dirt path and can be steep at certain points. There is a $5 parking fee but it is well worth it.

Address to Trailhead: 5970 Palos Verdes Drive South, Rancho Palos Verdes

Sturtevant Falls Trail
Highlights: Waterfall
Scenery: Forest
Hike Time: 3.25 miles
Difficulty: Moderate
Rating: 4 Stars
________________________________________
Summary: Sturtevant Falls bought me back to my East coast childhood by having me pass through small cabin campsites and smelling overwhelming scent of the woodsy forest. It was little like a fairy tale walking through the densely forested trail and hearing the babbling stream next to you. The prize to this hike is the 60 ft waterfall, if you keep climbing up you will come across smaller pools and waterfalls as well. This hike also requires you to get a $5 adventure pass from the Rangers station beforehand.
Address to Trailhead: Take the 210 east through Pasadena to Arcadia. Exit on Santa Anita Avenue and head north. Go up the mountain for 5 miles until the road ends at Chantry Flats. Display your National Forest adventure pass and park your car in the lot.Trailhead address: Chantry Flats Road, Angeles National Forest, Arcadia, CA 91006

Temescal Canyon
Highlights: Waterfall, Ocean views
Scenery: Ocean/Forest
Hike Time: 2.6 miles/1,000 foot climb
Difficulty: Moderate/Difficult
Rating: 4 Stars
________________________________________
Summary: Temescal Canyon is one of the challenging hikes I have found myself go back to several times. The views are spectacular of Malibu, Catalina and the ocean. There is a small, cascading waterfall which is worth checking out but not as big as some of the others in LA.
Address to Trailhead: Temescal Gateway Park is located at the top of Temescal Canyon Road at an intersection with Sunset Blvd, one mile from PCH. Free parking can be found along Temescal Canyon Road and Sunset Blvd. Parking inside the park is $7. Those who park in the lot should exercise caution passing through the intersection with the camera that issues tickets to drivers who do not come to a full stop.
Trailhead address: Sunset Boulevard & Temescal Canyon Road, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272
