Super Short Hikes To Random LA places..

Vanalden Cave
Highlights: Cave/Hieroglyphic carvings in the walls
Scenery: Valley views
Hike Time: About 30 minutes each way
Difficulty: Easy. Flat dirt trail.
Rating: 2 Stars (it wasn’t much of a challenge for me, I like longer hikes and the views didn’t really vary)

Summary: It’s a short, pretty straight forward easy hike, great for a beginner. I really enjoyed seeing the cave, it was quite large and not something you would expect in the middle of the Valley.
Vanalden Cave is a sandstone den about 25 feet tall, 25 feet wide, and 50 feet deep. Kids would probably love playing in it. As for the views, nothing spectacular, you are just overlooking the Valley. If you would like a longer workout, apparently there are options to extend the hike, I was unaware of at the time L.

San Vincente Mountain Park
Highlights: Missile launch site
Scenery: 360 degree Valley views
Hike Time: About 10 minutes each way
Difficulty: Easy. Fire trail.
Rating: 3 Stars (not much of a hike but the history of the location was interesting)

Summary: It was really interesting to see
one of sixteen Los Angeles area Nike-Ajax supersonic anti-aircraft missile launch sites. You could feel the history around you and there are several places to stop and read more information about the site. The hike is super short and easy as well. The views are amazing and I read it is one of the best places in the region to watch a sunset(maybe bring a picnic dinner?:).

Vasquez Rocks
Highlights: Oddly shaped, giant rocks to climb on
Scenery: Oddly shaped, giant rocks to climb on
Hike Time: Depends on how long you want to walk/climb around the rocks
Difficulty: Easy.
Rating: 3 Stars (not much of a hike but it was fun climbing on the rocks)
________________________________________
Summary: It’s thought provoking, knowing you are walking on rocks created 25 million years ago (sorry, I guess I’m a bit of a dork). However, this location has also been used for quite a few films such as Star Trek, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, etc. There isn’t a structured trail here, you basically walk anyway you can around and over the rocks. Definitely a fun time for kids who have a lot of energy to burn

Bronson Cave
Highlights: What else...the “official” Batman Cave from Batman TV Series
Scenery: Griffith Park
Hike Time: 5 minutes each way
Difficulty: Easy.
Rating: 3 Stars
________________________________________
Summary: The Bronson Cave is a man made 50 foot tunnel with 3 exits and surrounded by huge cliffs. It is a super short walk from the parking lot to the cave so once you explore the cave, you can always fulfill your hiking needs with a hike in Griffith Park.

Address to Trailhead: 3200 Canyon Drive, Griffith Park, Los Angeles, CA 90068
