Hiking Review...Escondido Falls...

Escondido Falls
4 Stars
Highlights: Waterfall
Difficulty: Moderate
Trail Condition: Good, the beginning of the trail takes place walking down the street in a neighborhood and there are a few places you have to cross the stream.

Summary: This is a great trail for beginner hikers. The beginning of the trail consists of walking down the road through a neighborhood and you have amazing views of the ocean. The waterfall is beautiful but hard to take pictures of (these are not my pictures) because of the moss that is under it. It reminded me of a tropical rainforest. There are upper falls but it is not recommended you go up there, several people have had serious injuries resulting from the attempt to get up there.

How to get there: From Kanan Road, drive south a mile or so on Pacific Coast Highway (1) to East Winding Way and turn left. The signed parking lot is on the left side of Winding Way. The trail actually follows the paved Winding Way for about a mile, after which you will see an obvious trail to the left. Follow the trail until it hits the stream, then just follow the trail upstream until you come to the lower falls
